Vision or Perish
June 28, 2010
Do you have a vision for your life? Does your life look like you want it to? Do you have success and balance in all different areas of life?
Experts say that people who are really successful seem to have a vision of what they want. Companies that are really successful seem to have a vision of what they want.
Have you ever been in a work situation where the leaders had no vision? Or maybe they had a vision but failed to share it with others? I know that I have. It led to a horrible work environment and a lot more failure than success. Consider the following quote –
“Where there is no vision, the people perish…” – Proverbs 29:18 KJV
Vision was an important principle throughout the ages just as it still is now. Proverbs gives us a strong warning as to how we perish when we don’t have a vision. Do you have a vision for your life?

Energy
June 21, 2010
Energy is an essential part of life. Certainly we need energy sources to heat and cool our homes, to power our automobiles, and to make life better. But I am talking about personal energy. This is the kind of energy that gets us through our day. Do you have enough energy to take care of the things that you need to take care of and get through your day?
This must be a problem for a lot of people. If we look around us there all kinds of products that promise to help boost our energy. We can get energy drinks and other products designed to give us a quick pick me up or to give us energy for up to however many hours it says on the label.
What can we do on our own? Lots of things can help. Optimism, proper nutrition, and getting enough rest can all help. As you go through your day do you get energized or worn out? Does your job energize you or wear you out? What about your family time? Does it energize you or wear you out? Do you get enough sleep so that you have enough energy? Do you get the proper nutrition so that you have enough energy?
This is an issue for a lot of people. If it wasn’t, we wouldn’t have so many products available promising solutions for this problem. This blog isn’t about whether or not we should or shouldn’t use products that promise to help us in this area. Rather it is about making us think about how important it is to have an abundance of energy to get through the day and what we can do on our own to find our own solutions.

Storms Coming
June 17, 2010
If the past is any predictor of the future, then we know that storms will come in the future. There will be more thunderstorms, earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, floods, and so forth. All of us aren’t directly affected every time, but we experience our share of them.
The same is true in our personal and professional lives as well. Storms come in many forms. They may come in the form of unexpected money problems, accidents, job losses, health problems, family problems, relationship problems, and many more.
Even though we know that things will happen, we can’t just sit around and wait for things to go wrong. That wouldn’t be a good use of our time.
But since we know that things will happen, it may be a good idea to be as prepared as we can. For example, in our personal finances, having an emergency fund is a great way to give ourselves some room to work when storms come in this area. Do you have an emergency fund to cover 3 – 6 months of expenses or even more? If not, how good would it feel to have this? If you don’t have this now, are you taking steps to make this happen?
This is just one example, how can you better prepare yourself for the storms that come in different areas of life?

Something Better
June 14, 2010
It seems as though every day I meet people that are frustrated and even angry. Often it is because of their circumstances. Perhaps it is because they lost a job, or maybe they feel that they don’t have enough money or success, or maybe they feel that someone did wrong to them.
There are many reasons that lead to frustration and anger. Regardless of the reason or reasons, we still need to move on and do our best in life.
When we devote too much time and energy into frustration and anger, it doesn’t leave us with enough time and energy to do better things in life.
If you experience frustration and anger, why not turn those emotions into something better? Why not take those emotions and use your time and energy and do something better with them?
How can you use your time and energy to be your best? What problems can you solve right now?

Can’t Please Everyone
June 10, 2010
I feel like I have been around a lot of complainers lately. Have you ever been around someone that complained about everything? It is easy to get caught up being a complainer ourselves if we aren’t careful.
If we are fortunate, there will be times that we will get constructive feedback that we can use to become better. But we have to be able to discern what is right for ourselves. We can’t please all of life’s complainers. We can’t please everyone and we don’t need to waste all of our energy trying.

Smile More
June 9, 2010
There is an old saying that you get out of something what you put into it. This is true with most things. This is true with life. If we are irritated and agitated a lot, most likely we will end up being that way more and more.
Life brings us challenges but we can smile about it and go out and achieve big things in life. Why not smile at life and see if you get out of it what you put into it?

Debt’s Toll
June 3, 2010
Unfortunately a lot of Americans are struggling with a lot of personal debt. This alone can cause a lot of stress between couples or for individuals. On top of that, a lot of people with debt have lost their jobs and that makes it even more stressful. Many more people that still have jobs have a lot of uncertainty about the future security of their jobs.
Living within our means and watching our spending is an important part of good money management. This can also lead to increased happiness and reduced stress.
If you are already in a position where you are dealing with too much debt and too much stress, remember the importance of taking one step at a time. If you try to do everything at once it likely will lead to frustration and more stress. Remember to take control of your priorities and take responsibility for your own situation.
